Seasoned Baltimore is a website of a historical narrative about the Charm City, Baltimore. By tracking the development of the spice industry in Baltimore chronologically, the website uncovers how the city achieved its prosperity through technology and innovation, as well as the culture that emerged along the way.

Concept

The visual identity of Seasoned Baltimore is inspired by 1950s advertising, when Pop Art and consumerism brought collage to commercial art. The recreation of this retro style helped me organize and layer the nuances of local history on the screen.

Research

To dig into the history narrative of the spice industry, I visited the Baltimore Museum of Industry for inspiration. The corner bars and thriving food packaging industry around the 20th century helped me understand how the geography and industrial development shaped Charm
City, and later fostered the establishments of spice corporations and boutiques.
